I HEART RAIN
Fellow casualty Alex Dieckmann writes for FVTF this month and treats us to a new fashion term – CRM – it’s a keeper, you’ll see!
Spending Saturdays working retail in the city becomes a delight on a rainy day. The usual Saturday crowds vanish, probably to indoor shopping centres, leaving me with no customers to serve. With the malls free from dawdlers and window shoppers, I find this the perfect time to go bargain hunting.
The Basement at Myer has become a favourite bargain destination of mine. Since I have the time to rummage through the sale racks, I find discount treasures are a plenty. Of course, there’s only styles and sizes left that I wouldn’t normally wear, so a CRM – Change Room Misson – is a must. Luckily the rainy day means no queue to the change rooms, and the attendant doesn’t mind that I have more than five items. Yesss!
Today’s CRM winner is a hot pink Miss Shop skirt from their La De Da range. Although the style of skirt, high waisted and ‘poofy’, can make for a larger looking derriere, it also gives the illusion of narrower legs. I’m not sure if this is a fair compromise, but I’m a sucker for a hot pink frock. It also comes with a detachable belt. Detachable accessories = double bang for my buck.
En route to the counter, I stop off at the usually crowded 50% off accessories table for some more rummaging and a little bit of untangling. The result, a miniature white pleather (plastic leather) shoulder bag. Simple and a bit tacky looking – perfect for club nights or gigs, when you’re trying to dance up a storm and the clutch is nothing more than a nuisance. Did I mention it’s half price? Sold.
Total savings – $48.45, I’m impressed. And if it wasn’t for the rain, it wouldn’t have been possible.
We’re impressed too Alex! Great hunting skills!! – TFC xx
